bottle · noun, British — nerve. The thing you lose when you walk away.
  1. Seven rounds, one ladder Pick a box. A figure inside and you climb. Packing paper and you go home with nothing. Every round, the table gets smaller and the odds get worse.
  2. One decision, over and over Clear a round and the pot doubles. Bank it and it’s yours — or risk the lot on the next box. Knowing when to stop is the game.
  3. The trader Twice a run he lays out three cards and you take one. They’re free. Nothing he has makes you harder to kill — it only changes what the run is worth.
One ladder a day. Everybody plays the same one.
